Minimum requirements for entry to the Basic Course are a High School
Certificate, or the equivalent. Nevertheless, due to the very wide variety of
educational systems, we will process the information and contact you ASAP.
Important Notice
The Online Distance Learning Course provides information and instruction
in the theory and practice of the Montessori Method. On completion of the Basic
Course students are issued a Montessori Teaching Certificate.
Internationally recognised standards for Montessori teacher training require
that in addition to completing the Basic Course (Montessori Certificate)
students receive a minimum of 200 hours of direct tutor-contact time which
students are offered by way of Workshops and Seminars held regularly every year
at one of the ICME accredited centres. Students sit for an examination on
completion of this time. A further 400 hours of practical experience (Teaching
Practice or 'Practicum') are required in an ICME accredited Montessori
kindergarten to qualify for an International Montessori Teaching Diploma which
all students should strive to achieve. Students are NOT obligated to
continue to completion and may terminate their studies at any time.
